History

Quote1 The ignorant deserve to die. Remember that! Quote2
-- Mr. Worthington

Maxwell Worthington was born into a broken home. His mother was dead and his father was abusive. When Maxwell was a young boy, he became excited at the idea of winning a puzzle contest at school. To increase his likelihood of winning, Maxwell sneaked into school during the night and practiced the puzzle until he could solve it with ease. He ended up winning, and was awarded a riddle book as a prize. Since that time, he has mastered puzzles, mind games, and riddles.

Maxwell's dad, Mr. Worthington worked for Wayne-Powers Corporation but when he is fired for his...temper and the money stops coming while Maxwell was profoundly intelligent and would pass tests with apparent ease, something his father, out of jealousy, couldn't or wouldn't believe; he therefore attributed his success to cheating (supposedly catching him once) and started beating on him to keep him 'out of trouble,' or to stop him from lying. Out of the abuse, Maxwell developed a compulsion he has became known for, he constantly endeavors to tell the truth to prove his innocence. This is where his obsession with riddles comes from. Unfortunately, the abuse is also a main factor that drove him mad and to a life of crime. Mr. Worthington *mutters angrily* "The ignorant deserve to die. Remember that!"

The Riddler

Riddler beyond

When Maxwell got older at 15, he was almost beaten to death by his father, he ended up in hospital. Young Maxwell was barely clinging to life. Maxwell's body heaves upwards as the doctors attempted to revive him. His face has oxygen tubes sticking out of it. This time his father went too far, when Maxwell finally woke up, Maxwell started making plans. He was going to pay his father back for almost killing him.

In Maxwell's room

Maxwell hooks together wires and fuses together metal, creating a bluish glow inside of the orb attached to a device he's building a bomb.

Mr. Worthington's hovercar- Afternoon

Mr. Worthington rides easily along in his vehicle, Worthington notices a bluish light that appears to protruding from the leather covering the middle seat behind him. A message in green letters appears on his computer screen " "The ignorant deserve to die. Remember that! Now who's the dumb one Dad?" Worthington tries to escape but finds the hovercar is no longer under his control and he can't get out. The hover car explodes, engulfed in flames. It loses control and crashes into the streets below. Civilians run, scream below, frenzied and scared.

However, of Batman's themed enemies, Riddler's compulsion is quite flexible, allowing him to commit any crime as long as he can describe it in a riddle or puzzle.
