Early Life

The son of Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife, Martha. Bruce was the sole heir of the Wayne family fortune. The Wayne family was one of the five great founding families of Gotham (the others being the Kanes, Elliots, Cobblepots and Crownes). By all accounts, Bruce had a blessed early childhood where his natural intelligence and athleticism were praised by his parents. though his mother had always insisted that he be taught to use his talents to leave the world better than when he entered it. Bruce also developed a close relationship with the butler of the Wayne Estate, Alfred Pennyworth. Among Bruce's interests was a love for cinema and so it was that the Wayne family took Bruce to the theatre every Thursday evening. Shortly after Bruce turned eight, Thomas and Martha Wayne were walking home from the Monarch Theater one night with their son when they were held up at gunpoint by a mugger who shot both Thomas and Martha dead, orphaning Bruce, over Martha's pearl necklace. After that heinous act, Bruce was raised on the Wayne family estate by Alfred Pennyworth and Dr. Leslie Thompkins, a friend and colleague of Thomas Wayne. At school, Bruce became isolated, only finding friendship in Tommy Elliot outside of his home.

Consumed by a need for justice, Bruce felt little comfort when his parents' killer, Joseph Chilton, was apprehended four years later by Detective Jim Gordon. Bruce's eyes had been opened to the level of crime that infested Gotham and was determined to do something about it. He had already been training his body, mind and various skill with Alfred (who was an ex-British Special Forces) and multiple tutors but Bruce knew he would have to leave Gotham if he was going to save it. At 14 years old, Bruce graduated high school early and went abroad.

The Batman

After graduating Bruce Wayne began a global sojourn, attending courses at Cambridge, the Sorbonne and other European universities, while also moonlighting with less established mentors who would school Bruce in tavern, back-alleys and empty warehouses. However he never stayed long, often dropping out. At age 21, Bruce returned to the States and joined the FBI. He lasted exactly four weeks before he again dropped out in favor of backpacking across Europe and Asia on a whim (at least that's what he told everyone). In truth, Bruce had realized that the justice he sought would not be gained through official channels and due to his unreputable tutors. Bruce had caught the interest of a man called Henri Ducard. Ducard offered Bruce the justice he sought and claimed to be able to give Bruce the training he would need. Bruce agreed to join the League of Assassins.

It did not take long for Bruce to deduce that Henri Ducard was simply the operational alias used by Ra's al Ghul, the 'Immortal Mastermind' of the League but Bruce did not cae. In short time Bruce had become the star pupil of Ra's. groomed to inherit the command from Ra's. even wedding the daughter of Ra's al Ghul. What exactly transpired between Bruce and Ra's to cause Bruce to break all ties with the League and return to Gotham is not known/

After he reclaimed his father's company Bruce installed his family friend Lucius Fox as the company president, allowing someone he trusted to run the daily operations. Bruce then began a career as a vigilante, adopting the identity of a serial arsonist named Matches Malone, he tried to take down crime from within. When that failed he called upon his League training and with the help of his butler, Alfred, created the visage of the Batman.

  • Batsuit: The costume Batman wears is composed by Kevlar and a little percentage of titanium; it's bullet-proof and resistant to various types of attack (explosions, impacts, falls, etc...). It's also flame-retarding and insulating. The gloves and the boots are reinforced to rebound the impact of punches and kicks. The gloves have also some metallic blades on their sides. The cape is super-light and it can be used to glide. The mask has a little percentage of lead, which shields the face of Batman from x-ray powers or x-ray technology, and incorporates an infrared and night vision viewer, auditory sensors and a sonar. The mask is accessorized with some security systems (aggravating gas, electric blasts, etc.), like the utility belt, and integrates a transmitter receiver device de voice and video.
  • Utility Belt: Batman keeps most of his personal field equipment in a signature piece of apparel, a yellow utility belt. The utility belt has a button to call the car in a few appearances on Justice League, and a command for teleportation. Over the years it has contained items such as plastic explosives, nerve toxins, batarangs, smoke bombs, a fingerprint kit, a cutting tool, a grappling hook gun, torches, and a "re-breather" breathing device. Superman had entrusted Batman with a ring made of kryptonite, to be used should the Man of Steel ever need to be reined in (due to being mind-controlled by a villain, etc.). The kryptonite ring is contained in a lead pocket, in order to shield Batman from its radiations. The belt has also its own automatic security systems.
